Microsoft forges ahead with new home-automation OS

So is home automation due for a comeback?  I recall all the hype about a decade ago yet adoption has not lived up to the hype.

So I'm thinking about buying a Apple iPad to run Microsoft Windows on. No really. So if you had to choose would you go with a Windows Tablet or an iPad with VM access to the Windows client in a business environment? Please share your thoughts!
